It all started with my family at Nth.Bondi Beach where Dad was a life saver & back in the day he rowed 19’ boards called Toothpicks. We would spend all day their where we learnt to swim & body surf. From there we progressed to the old rubber surf mats & then colites at Coogee Beach. Next progression was fibreglass boards from McCoy who’s boards I still ride today at Maroubra Beach.

In the last years of High School Dad bought me an Olympus Trip 35 in a water housing where I started combine my art skills from school with surfing. Soon after leaving school I bought a SLR with a 500mm lens for land shots. As I improved so did my equipment to Canon F-1 & Century 650mm f6.3 & AquaWare housing for it. The development of auto focus arrived with the purchase of EOS-1 film cameras & lenses to current day 1Ds series & 1Dx series which I still use now.

All while improving enough to start submitting photos to Tracks & Line Up magazines where I got published. Lots off slides, prints & years later of contributing to mags I scored a 1st ever full time photographer position at the Courier Newspaper Group. Many others followed like the Eastern Suburbs Herald, Cumberland , Fairfax, City of Sydney Times, Pro Beach Volleyball Tour Photographer & more. I didn't enter many comps but did get 3rd place in Tracks one year, had photos in the Olympic Bid Book & got Richo’s photo inducted into the Australian Surfing Museum & in his book. It’s been a great joy of my life & hopefully there are a few good one’s left.
